Location: Opelika, AL

Salary Range: $40,000 and $50,000


Basic Function:

The Estimator/Project Manager is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction materials and pipe projects, supporting sales and operations teams in bidding and securing project sales. The role requires strong analytical skills, an understanding of civil sitework specific to drainage systems and erosion & sediment control, as well as the ability to interpret technical plans, specifications, and industry standards.

Job Duties:

  • Review project plans, drawings, specifications, and scope documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.

  • Conduct material takeoffs and quantity calculations related to corrugated piping products, erosion & sediment control and stormwater BMP products, and general construction supplies.

  • Collaborate with ECS and Twin Oaks purchasers, also manufacturers and suppliers to obtain current pricing on materials.

  • Prepare clear and professional bid proposals and cost estimates for submission to clients or internal leadership.

  • Attend virtual pre-bid meetings, research and track bidding opportunities using construction jobsite software.

  • Support project management with change orders and pricing updates during active projects.

  • Find value engineering opportunities in plans and aid sales process with potential specification changes.

  • Maintain a database of jobsites, pricing history, and jobsite quotes for follow up and potential changes during jobsite construction.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • 2+ years of estimating experience in site construction, underground utilities, erosion control, or drainage products.

  • Proficient in reading construction blueprints and civil plans. Working knowledge of construction estimating software (e.g., Construct Connect, Plan Hub).

  • Strong communication and organizational skills. Must meet with sales reps and management often to talk progress on bidding process and jobsites.

  • Self- Motivated with high energy, must be able to muti-task various bidding opportunities and projects daily.

  • High level of integrity and work ethic must maintain professionalism to always portray WS Connelly Companies in a positive manner.
